Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day - September 30, 2018

#BridgingTheGap - Racism and Hate
September 25, 2018: I had the honour and privilege being invited by my MLA (NDP) David Sheppard to join a full house of 100 participants made up of mostly Muslim guests and NDP volunteers to help conduct an Edmonton/Center anti-racism consultation. The discussion tonight was focused on the Anti-Racism Community Grant (ARCG) that will be added to the growing 96 Billion projected Provincial debt.  I questioned Mr. Sheppard after his opening remarks on racism, his referencing the 9/11 Soldiers of Odin protest that was alleged to take place by local corporate news media party and social media as a anti-Muslim protest outside the Commonwealth Stadium on September 11th. A news story that went viral the day before and continued for days after on social media and on public airwaves radio and TV, regardless there was no follow-up or confirmation that the protest even happened. The NDP Government is preparing to send tax funded grants to community and indigenous non-profit organizations to help support initiatives that will raise awareness and understanding of racism and it's impact on Albertans.  Related/YouTube Citizen Free News 2017 Interview with a man during a Soldiers of Odin rally

Saudi demands Canada apology, not a 'banana republic'

September 27, 2018 Aljazeera: Today Saudi Arabia demanded an apology from Canada for calling for the release of Saudi women's rights activists and that Canada stops treating the kingdom as "a banana republic" In local news Alberta Legislature grounds keepers have removed all the banana trees from the front of the Alberta Legislature. I asked a gardener how old were these trees they were uprooting destined for the compost pile and he replied maybe 2 - 3 years in growth. "Sad" I said "not much of a life span transplanted here in front the Leg for a few months just for show" and at such wasteful expense I thought to myself. I remember the time not long ago spring session when MLA Derek Fildebrandt posted a photo of the banana trees on twitter referring to these little Musas as a palm trees and a sign of global warming...
The term banana republic describes a politically unstable country with an economy dependent upon the exportation of a limited-resource product, such as bananas or minerals. Wikipedia.

September 27, 2018: A small group of about 20 gathered Thursday evening inside the Alberta Legislature Federal building with the MLA (UCP) Finance critic Drew Barns who gave guests an opportunity to learn the future of where Alberta's finances might he headed if the United Conservative party were to form the next Alberta Government next year. Drew emphasized Albertans must begin to demand more respect from thier government's spending of thier hard earned tax money. Drew was confident in saying that if the current NDP is replaced with his party the United Conservatives next spring, there would be an immediate reaction of investments coming back into Alberta after ridding the carbon tax, lowing corporate taxes and setting up a Ministry responsible to ridding some of the heavy burdens of red tape and regulations that has discouraged investments to come into Alberta. Drew stated he believes under current Federal and Provincial Governments only the keystone pipeline will be built.
